Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) are a central element of the cycle to achieve the ambitions of the Paris Agreement. They reflect the efforts of each country to reduce national emissions and adapt to the impacts of climate change. Parties commit to implementing domestic measures to reduce emissions in order to achieve the goals outlined in the NDCs.
Every five years, countries are required to submit updated Nationally Determined Contributions, which must reflect the highest possible level of ambition. The NDCs 3.0 will be presented in 2025, based on the findings of the first Global Stocktake (GST).
The Climate Action Network has developed recommendations for the new round of NDCs 3.0, which are based on four key pillars:
